Russell Brierley
Russell is the principle instructor in Benchmark’s Competency Training Division. Russell’s core responsibility is safety critical communications training but he is also the lead for the delivery of the Coaching for Performance Improvement (CPI) Programme.
Russell began working with Benchmark on the SAF 6 (Safety Critical Communications) Programme. He was one of a team of instructors who delivered training to around 30 000 railway personnel. He also helped to develop and deliver the pioneering Coaching for Performance Improvement Programme for First Engineering.
Russell is a former Senior NCO within the Infantry where he honed his skills as an instructor. His military training work included instructing at the School of Infantry at Warminster where he trained soldiers and officers at all levels in the skills of command, control and leadership. He also served as a Team Leader with the Joint Asset Management and Engineering Team.
His most recent military training post was as an instructor delivering training on the BOWMAN communications system. Here he delivered training to soldiers undergoing initial training as well as those deploying on operations where he achieved an exceptionally high overall pass rate of over 99%. Russell has also trained and worked as an NVQ Assessor and he is has a Personal Track Safety certificate for the railway and an NVQ in Railway Engineering.
